Sermon, January 22, 2012: Better Than Bondage and Death

Series:Jesus is Better:BETTER THAN BONDAGE AND DEATH

Hebrews 2:5-18

A thousand things compete for your attention every single day. Some things are good, others not so good, either way whether it is family, friends, job, hobbies, church or community there is a lot to do. We might even think that life would be simpler in an earlier time. The New Testament book of Hebrews proves that is not the case. The human author of Hebrews is addressing a group of Jewish Christians that are very tempted to fall back into some old habits. Just like us, all kinds of things were vying for their attention. The book of Hebrews reminded them and shows us "Jesus is Better". He is better than the old covenant, he is better than anything this world could offer. Join us as we celebrate the truth that Jesus is superior to all things.

Sermon, January 1, 2012: A Boastless New Year

A BOASTLESS NEW YEAR

James 4:13-17

New Year's Day is often a time of resolutions. We determine to do all kinds of things differently in the new year. Certainly, goals are good. We should resolve to live life in the coming year with a new excitement and ambition. On the other hand, we should proceed with caution. Our plans for today and tomorrow reveal a great deal about what we believe about God. Are our plans for 2012 man-centered or Christ-centered? This morning we will examine a short passage of Scripture from the book of James reminding us of the need to avoid boasting as we plan for tomorrow. Even now, as you read this, pray that God will move mightily in your life this morning. Pray that the One who makes all things new will make you new this Lord's Day.

Sermon, Sunday Nov. 27, 2011: LIFT YOUR EYES

Title: LIFT YOUR EYES

Numbers 21:4-9

The Old Testament is replete with Scriptures fortelling the coming of our Savior, Jesus! The story of the Israelites, after "grumbling" about their hardships, shows how God sent serpents to attack them. However, God provided a way of saving them. This story shows how God's love and forgiveness was later similarily manifested through Jesus, and continues even today, when our Lord was lifted up for all to put their faith in Him.

LIFT YOUR EYES UPON JESUS!

Series: To Live Is Christ: THANKFULNESS

Philippians 4:10-23

We all need encouragement every now and then. The Bible is a miraculous book providing everything we need exactly when we need it. Sometimes God rebukes us or disciplines us through his word. Sometimes he encourages and exhorts. Philippians is one such book of encouragement. There is encouragement to stand firm in the faith. There is encouragement to be unified in the body. There is encouragement to defend the truth of the gospel. Paul loved the Philippian Christians. He wanted to be with them. In the series, To Live is Christ, we will be encouraged and challenged to live Christ daily.

<itunes:summary>Series: To Live Is Christ: THE PRIZE

We all need encouragement every now and then. The Bible is a miraculous book providing everything we need exactly when we need it. Sometimes God rebukes us or disciplines us through his word. Sometimes he encourages and exhorts. Philippians is one such book of encouragement. There is encouragement to stand firm in the faith. There is encouragement to be unified in the body. There is encouragement to defend the truth of the gospel. Paul loved the Philippian Christians. He wanted to be with them. In the series, To Live is Christ, we will be encouraged and challenged to live Christ daily. </itunes:summary>
